zosianicola's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- orchestra, french decor, global wetting It is cold (34 degrees), rainy and gloomy in south Texas on April 9th. This is so wrong. Just 2 degrees away from being incredibly wrong. we went to the symphony tonight and I am proud and relieved to report that the SA symphony is very good. It was a FAB concert, of Respighi, Rachmaninoff and Elgar and they were lush and full and moving and (as our little Spiggy would say) FabFanTaxtic! Ohmigosh the Paganini variations by Lilya Zilberstein...she was transplendiferous, and the symphony played the Nimrod variation as an encore, lusher and fuller and more expansive than they played it the first time, it was like, like, well, like, hmmm, like, like listening to a good symphony playing the Elgar enigma variations the theater is an old re-furbished 1920's atmospheric theater that looks like Zorro lived in it We painted the dining room today. It looks so much bigger. It was brick red. The previous owner was a bachelor, nuff said----it was probably black before. My color scheme is inspired by the old town on the hill in Bar-Le-Duc France, where the old buildings are of limestone, not honey-colored like in Bath or butter-colored like in Jerusalem, but kind of tannish-greyish-beige, and the shutters are all heather sky blue or sea foam green, with an occasional lilac. We painted the dining room sea foam (well, actually, "pillow mint") and the living room will eventually be the dusty sky blue. The rooms are separated by a floor to ceiling bookcase which will be the limestone color. The wet bar (I hate that I have a wet bar) is on the opposite wall from the bookcase and it is already a very light beige, so I will try to match the bookcase to it. Anyway as of today the dining room looks three times bigger because it isn't burgundy red anymore. 10:40 p.m. - 2007-04-07 ---------------------------------------------------------
