zosianicola's Diaryland Diary

my little sis my dogs my dottir

We took the dogs for a LONG walk at the off-leash dog park yesterday. THe weather wasn't very nice, so we figured the park might not be so heavily visited as it was last weekend. That was true. We took a longer route, which was really muddy, and the poodles got muddy up to their elbows. After the walk we went straight to Wiggles and Wags to hose them down. While there I saw some misguided young woman picking up her two small (tiny) dogs and buying hideous frilly tutus for them. That should be illegal.

Nina is in Spain on her latest vacation----I guess they get to take a week's vacation every month in France.

My sister told me a good story about her recent trip to CHina. She went to train a young man who will.....I don't know what, exactly, she writes software that maintains the ordering platform for a big company. The ordering is not for retail customers, it's for raw material suppliers and big volume purchasers of the final product, which is a big-ticket durable good kind of a thing. The raw material supplier company is CHina---or are they the final product purchaser? I forget! I was under the impression that Brazil was the raw material supplier....WHATEVER, she went to China to train a young programmer to do something, and they met every day for 2 weeks at the CHinese headquarters to work. One day there was a power outage at the headquarters so they couldn't work there, and the company made arrangements for them to work at the hotel she was staying at. She went to the arranged room and met her trainee at the door, suspicious because it was in one of the sleeping corridors. Yes, it was just a regular bedroom, and she refused to even go in. She stood out in the hall while the underling used the room phone to demand a conference room WITH COMPUTERS for them to work in. She said she had noticed that the hotel staff was completely and totally and absolutely tuned in to every little thing in the place and she didn't want them whispering about the American lady conferencing with the young Chinese guy in Room 324. She said they were already whispering about how she ordered a Tsingdao with every room service dinner while she was there.
I AM SO PROUD OF HER! GOING TO WORK IN CHINA!

I wrote 2 exams, 2 "study guides", one "faculty growth and development plan" and graded 4 sets of papers this weekend. I missed the weekend, except for the muddy walk in the woods
